Chateau Malescasse Haut-Medoc 2014

Château Malescasse is situated in the commune of Lamarque, the highest point between Margaux and Saint-Julien, right next to the Gironde estuary. Acquired by Philippe Austruy in 2012, this estate has been renowned since ancient times and possesses a superb terroir. The 40-hectare single vineyard is managed as a grand cru, and the modernized winery enables the precise vinification of small batches.

The 2014 vintage of Château Malescasse is a blend of 54% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot. The wine undergoes vinification in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation occurring in barrels. It is aged in French oak barrels, 35% of which are new, for up to 14 months.

Tasting Notes

Nose: The wine presents an intense nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, and raspberry of great maturity, with molten notes of roasting and mocha giving it great elegance and added complexity.
Palate: On the palate, it is perfectly balanced between alcohol and acidity, settling without heaviness or aggressiveness. After a dense attack, it evolves on a beautiful tight and silky tannic structure.
Finish: The finish is long, aromatic, and dense, showcasing elegant power.
